My mother once told a teenaged me that I wouldn’t be satisfied until I’d solved all the problems of the world! That’s when I decided to set off on a career in - don’t laugh - economics and finance - with some consulting in the middle.

I’m now older and - after 25 years of experience of banking and economic and financial policy-making at national and European levels - a bit more astute at how to get things done, but I still have that same passion for applying complex economic and financial concepts to deliver positive economic and social impact.

After a four year spell as a partner in PwC’s strategy consulting business, working mainly with International Financial Institutions (IFIs), I returned in October 2024 to the European Investment Bank (EIB) to become Director General of EIB Global, its non EU investment and advisory arm.

Reporting to EIB Group Presidents Nadia Calvino, I now lead a fantastic team of over 300 professionals that provide financing and technical support to climate investments, and other projects aligned with EU policy goals, in our partner countries across the world.
