Dr. Richard Hatchett

Dr. Richard Hatchett is Chief Executive Officer of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), a global partnership that finances and coordinates the development of vaccines and biologic countermeasures against epidemic and pandemic threats. Under his leadership, CEPI has built one of the world’s largest vaccine portfolios and played a central role in advancing equitable access through initiatives such as COVAX and the global 100 Days Mission. Dr. Hatchett previously served in senior roles in the U.S. government, including Acting Director of BARDA and Director of Medical Preparedness Policy on the U.S. National Security Council under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. He is a physician trained in internal medicine and medical oncology, with a longstanding focus on global health security and preparedness.
